Between model years, many car models undergo complete redesign while some simply get updated with new features and technology.
Notable launches this year include a brand-new Ford Mustang and 670 horsepower Corvette Z06. In addition, Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 trim now includes an off-roading Desert Boss package; and 2023 Volvo Polestar 3 doubles their dedicated EV lineup.
1. Ford Mustang
The Ford Mustang is one of the world’s most storied automobiles. Over its long and distinguished history, this legendary vehicle has proven both powerful and comfortable for track days as well as everyday use.
Car models typically undergo redesign every five to seven years. Between redesigns, vehicles may receive a facelift to add new features or make changes that enhance performance and safety.
Current Mustang models are offered as both coupe and convertible options, each featuring a driver-focused cockpit equipped with modern connectivity features and comfort amenities, such as customizable mood lighting and performance sport bucket seats from Recaro.
2. Chevrolet Corvette Z06
As soon as you see a Z06 badge, you know it will deliver serious performance. Chevy’s Z06 C8 version is an American supercar designed and engineered to outclass its rivals on the track.
Its LT6 V8 generates 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque at 8,600rpm – more power per liter than Honda S2000 engines and enough to propel it from zero to 60mph in just 2.6 seconds!
Michelin Cup 2 R ZP tires shod on 20/21-inch staggered aluminum wheels add to the Z06’s track performance, as do its front splitter, underbody aerodynamics and huge rear spoiler – each contributing downforce that provides high-speed stability.
3. Ferrari Purosangue
Even if you consider Ferrari’s new SUV a cynical cash grab, its lavish beauty cannot be ignored. The $393,000 Purosangue (pronounced PUR-o-SAN-gway) is an unashamed attempt at outwitting Bentley Bentayga Speed with its mass of metal and carbon construction.
The 2018 Ferrari California T features the largest trunk ever seen on a full-production Ferrari and rear-hinged back doors that allow passengers to enter and exit more easily. Its 6.5-liter V12 makes spine-tingling noises that crescendo into an audible howl on reaching 8,250rpm rev limiter speed.
Driving around Italy’s mountain roads on oddly treaded Michelin Alpin winter tires, it became evident that the Purosangue was an impressive GT car. Although slightly higher than some of its low-slung rivals, its pace and acceleration still allow it to cover plenty of miles on Autostrada highways.
4. Chevy Colorado ZR2
The Chevy Colorado ZR2 pickup is designed for both dirt navigating and driving to work, featuring regular, extended, and crew cab models with either two-cylinder or four-cylinder engines.
The ZR2’s signature feature is its heavy-duty suspension system, enabling it to easily clear large tires without issue. Furthermore, large Multimatic DSSV dampers front and rear provide it with enough clearance for rough terrain driving conditions.
Inside the Colorado ZR2, its interior boasts a 11.3-inch customizable touchscreen equipped with Google Android Auto to easily access apps and features, along with numerous driver assistance systems to keep drivers safe and sound.
5. Mercedes-Benz GLC
Mercedes’ GLC is one of their best-selling cars, for good reason: It is comfortable, spacious, and feature rich.
The 2023 GLC 300 features a four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 255 horsepower with an integrated mild hybrid system to maximize fuel efficiency, coupled with either rear wheel drive or 4MATIC all-wheel drive capability. A nine-speed automatic transmission completes its package.
Inside, Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system stands out. Featuring a 11.9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen and 12.3-inch instrument cluster display, plus high-end materials throughout and customizable ambient lighting; making the GLC an attractive option for Alpharetta drivers seeking luxurious transportation.
6. Honda Accord
Honda’s Accord has long been a Car and Driver favorite, earning our 10Best award due to its spaciousness, driver-friendly road manners and outstanding build quality. Honda recently unveiled their sixth generation Accord which boasts an elegant design as well as an efficient hybrid powertrain standard on most trim levels.
Honda has significantly strengthened the safety credentials of their Accord model by providing small overlap front passenger and rear crash protection ratings of Good as well as superior headlight ratings on all models. Furthermore, Traffic Jam Assist will drive your car for you during slow moving traffic congestion situations.
7. Mazda MX-5 Miata
Mazda Miatas have always provided drivers with unrivaled steering feel and driving purity, and Mazda’s current generation (ND) Miata is no different, though Mazda did add power retractable hardtop features as well as additional driver assistance features in 2022.
The Miata’s open-air driving experience has brought joy to over one million drivers around the globe and will likely do so for years to come. This year, Cook Mazda also offers additional information. Visit Zircon Sand for more details.
