Hamilton finished a mere 2.3 seconds behind Felipe Massa’s winning Ferrari F2007, vaulting himself into a three-way tie for the world championship lead.
“I am happy with it. This weekend, we definitely closed the gap to Ferrari, and to have another second in only my third race, I could not ask for more,” Hamilton said. “There is only more step from here, and we will keep on pushing for [the next race at] Barcelona.”
