Volkswagen Fox who is sold in Latin America does not count on the same safety measures that the one that is sold in Europe. Incredibly both models of produce in the same shipbuilder in Brazil.
The Vw Fox was put under crash tests similar to the one done by the European oorganisation of security euroNCAP and the result was very bad, compared with the model that is exported to Europe. So bad, that the advantage of “the European” model went of 4 stars to only 1 stars and a half for the Fox of the Mercosur.
And there is more: who buys the Fox in Brazil and wants the car with the same safety measure like the one in Europe must pay another 2500 euros extra…
