New Twingo to be launched on June 15

French carmaker Renault is to sell its new Twingo from June 15 and will unveil the new Laguna on June 5, the company said today.

The two all-new models, are part of Renault’s ambitious programme to put 26 cars on the road by 2009.

From June 5, Renault will unveil the new Laguna a car which should mark the French car group’s re-entry in the higher-echelon segment. The Laguna will officially be launched in September, around the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Renault said the new Twingo targeted a broader, more international customer base than its predecessor, a small vehicle of which Renault has sold more than 2.4 million since April 1993.

There will be a right-hand-drive model for the UK market, and new features include a 1.5 dCi diesel engine.

The new Twingo rounds out Renault’s coverage of the small-car segment alongside its Clio Campus, Modus and Clio III models. The car is made at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia.
