Again the well-known 3.0 TDI engine from Audi managed to obtain an important award, this time the Challenge Bibendum award, a challenge created by Michelin in 1998 for the promotion of sustainable road mobility. The Audi A5 3.0 TDI driven by Christoph Klapper and Bernhard Wolfsberge, the official car of Audi AG managed to take the lead in front of the Renault Logan Eco2 and also the VW Jetta Clean TDI who managed to finish the challenge on the 3rd place.
Challenge Bibendum, created by Michelin in 1998, is a unique event for the promotion of sustainable road mobility. The event is a concerted effort by pre-eminent players in the automotive world – vehicle manufacturers, technical partners, energy suppliers and research institutes – to provide political and economic decision makers, as well as opinion leaders, with insights and in-depth understanding on the latest advanced vehicle technology to help achieve a more fuel-efficient, cleaner, safer and freer-flowing road mobility.

Challenge Bibendum is a one-of-a-kind event, open to all technologies. Not only does it enable all the players in road mobility to come together to share their thoughts and experience, and to try out the latest technological developments for themselves, but it also tests, measures and analyzes the progress achieved by different technologies.
One of the principal themes of the Shanghai 2007 event is how can we leverage advanced technology to address an ever growing demand for road mobility? One of the key challenges for sustainable road mobility is the ability of the fast growing economies, such as China and India, to address this issue in a context of exponential motorization and high level of urbanization. This is why, after being held in Shanghai in 2004, Kyoto in 2005 and Paris in 2006, Challenge Bibendum is returning to Shanghai in 2007, from November 14 to 17.
