The legendary Ford RS performance car brand is returning in the shape of the exciting new Ford Focus RS, which will be previewed on July 22 at the 2008 London International Motor Show. The new Focus RS will go on sale in early 2009 and is being created by a small team of dedicated engineers, under the direction of Jost Capito, Ford of Europe’s Vehicle Line Director for Performance Vehicles.

The Siegen-based Audi expert B&B, perfects the actuel version of the TT. Performance values, which normally are preserved by high class sports cars, can be reached in 3 different stages (306, 324 and 362 hp). The acceleration duration 0-100km/h is lowered to an enormous value of 4.6 seconds in the final stage - while Vmax level is on 280km/h. To reach these performance values, B&B mounts a special turbo loader, a sport exhaust system with a special pre exhaust system and a high performance sports catalyst as well as an electronical tuning, perfectly harmonizing with these components.

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, today announced the successful development of its Subaru Plug-in STELLA Concept model, a prototype electric vehicle (EV). FHI will provide five units of the Plug-in STELLA Concept for use at the Hokkaido Toyako Summit to be held July 7 through 9, 2008. Four of the five will be used to transport government officials and other participants at the summit, while one vehicle will be displayed at the Environmental Showcase, an exhibition and demonstration area in the International Media Center, and it will also be available for a test drive.

70 years for Porsche in Zuffenhausen

It was on June 26, 1938 that Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche KG, as the enterprise was then called, moved from Kronenstrasse 24 in the center of Stuttgart to newly-built premises in the district of Zuffenhausen. In May 1937, Ferry Porsche had already acquired a site there at the address Spitalwaldstrasse 2 (as it then was), thus determining the location of the later Porsche factory. 70 years on, the building newly completed in 1938 still forms a central part of the factory complex in Zuffenhausen.

Environmental motoring website Whatgreencar? has awarded its first Green Car of the Year award to the Ford Focus ECOnetic. Whatgreencar.com’s lifetime impact rating covering cars’ use and manufacture scored the 1.6-litre ECOnetic Focus better than the site’s benchmark hybrid. The site’s independent panel of judges, representing leading UK transport organisations including the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership and Energy Saving Trust, unanimously declared the frugal Ford as the greenest family-size car available.

When Mercedes-Benz introduced its SLR McLaren 722, there was a bit of confusion about the special-edition’s name. Many believed the car would offer a fire-breathing, 722 hp supercharged V8, but it doesn’t (it makes 650 hp). Some believed that “722″ meant there would be 722 of the cars made … but that was wrong, too. In the end, the 722 badge actually referred to 7:22AM - the starting time of Sterling Moss’ epic 1955 Mille Miglia run in a then-new Mercedes SLR.
